On a sunny October 24th, the ASD and LCA classes had an exciting visit to Farmer Phil's Pumpkin Patches at the Stewart Family Farm in County Longford.
When we arrived at the pumpkin patch, we were greeted by the sight of numerous pumpkins. Farmer Phil, who is not only a farmer but also a famous YouTuber with fans around the world, explained how they plant tiny pumpkin seeds in the spring. These seeds transform into big, colourful pumpkins by the time autumn comes around. We even had the chance to touch and examine the pumpkins up close, which helped us learn about the plant growth.
As we strolled around the field, we came across pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. It was like a fun treasure hunt as we searched for the perfect pumpkin that caught our eye. All children enjoyed choosing their own! As you can see from the photos, the pupils had a blast!
Besides the pumpkins, the farm was home to geese, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and pigs. These animals were part of Farmer Phil's YouTube channel. We watched the animals in their natural, somewhat muddy habitat, which was a unique experience for all.
We'd like to express our gratitude to Miss Murray for organising this fun trip that all pupils enjoyed.
